For all their good qualities, traditional size bricks also have their drawbacks - they're heavy, they require extra foundations, they require skilled labour to lay. They are also time consuming and expensive to install, and have negligible insulation value. There is an alternative - the Eurobrick Insulated Brick Cladding System.
The Eurobrick System is the innovative and creative solution for new build, refurbishment and prefabrication. It's fast to install and can offer considerable savings in terms of labour and groundworks. Designed for external and internal application, this unique insulated cladding gives all the durability and minimal maintenance characteristics of traditional brick and stonework but with none of the associated drawbacks. This leads to a reduction in whole life costings compared to other claddings and renders. The developers of Eurobrick wanted to provide an identical aesthetic and rain screen function to kiln fired clay bricks and realised that this was possible using a slip 15mm thick rather than the traditional 102.5mm full brick.
Initially introduced in America during the mid '80's, with American size brick slips, the system was introduced to Europe in 1990. It has been continuously expanded to include a full range of UK sizes and colours as well as a reconstituted stone range. Thoroughly tested and benefiting from WIMLAS third party certification, the Eurobrick System can be specified with total confidence.
